Safety management plays a very special role wherever chemical substances are used. GfE operates certified environmental (ISO 14001) and workplace safety management (ISO 45001) systems at all its sites, as well as internal accident prevention safety management procedures at the Nuremberg site.  

If, contrary to expectations and despite all precautionary measures, a malfunction should occur, you will find all relevant information on safety measures and how to behave correctly in our information brochure:

Prevention...

... is the safest way to avoid accidents. This is why GfE also places particular importance on preventative measures in addition to mandatory safety management measures. Our staff receive regular training to ensure that we can carry out comprehensive risk assessments across all areas of production in the event of an emergency. Furthermore, we analyze all possibilities that could lead to an incident in advance.

Hazardous Incident Ordinance GfE is a chemical plant at which classified dangerous materials are also handled. Our facilities are therefore subject to the Hazardous Incident Ordinance. The purpose of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance is to minimize the risks and dangers of industrial hazardous incidents for the public and to protect the environment and immediate area against possible dangers that may arise from operating such plants. The Hazardous Incident Ordinance requires operators of plants at which dangerous substances are handled to inform the area about suitable safety measures and the correct response to a hazardous incidence.

What measures are to be taken in the event of an incident? Our comprehensive safety management system ensures that the risk of an accident endangering both the environment and the people is reduced to a minimum. Despite all the safety precautions we have in place for our staff and the area, accidents and hazardous incidents cannot be completely ruled out. For such an exceptional case, alarms and hazard prevention plans are in place to regulate further action on the site’s premises and in the immediate area. In the case of an emergency, the local fire department and auxiliary services have the necessary equipment immediately at hand to limit the effects of an incident.  

On-site inspections The last on-site inspection by the authorities in accordance with paragraph 7 of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance took place on December 16, 2025.
The next on-site inspection is scheduled for December 2026.
